Jim Iyke Reveals Why He Chased a Nollywood Producer With a Machete

Nollywood star Jim Iyke has opened up about a dramatic incident in his acting career where he once chased a film producer with a machete. According to him, the confrontation started after he received a script that asked him to play a gay role, something he firmly refused.

Iyke explained that while he has great respect for different communities and lifestyles, he will never compromise his values for any role. He stressed that acting in such a storyline goes against his personal principles, and he does not accept roles that conflict with his beliefs.

The actor shared that he was deeply offended when a producer sent him the script suggesting a gay character. Out of anger, he pursued the producer with a machete, forcing the man to run for his safety. Jim Iyke recalled shouting at him to keep running as he chased him away.

He added that he cannot put on a skirt or act in ways that do not reflect his values. In his view, Nollywood often tries to create diverse stories for different audiences, including minority groups, but he is unwilling to bend to such demands. Although he respects the LGBTQ+ community, he made it clear that he would never take part in those kinds of roles.
