Odumeje Says Nigeria Is Better Than America After Visit to the US

Popular Nigerian clergyman, Prophet Odumeje, has sparked conversations after stating that the United States is not better than Nigeria. The preacher, who is well known for his unique preaching style and bold statements, told his church members that his trip to America left him unimpressed.

Speaking during a service, Odumeje explained that he had traveled to the US with high expectations, but what he experienced made him realize that Nigeria has its own beauty and values that should not be overlooked. He noted that many Nigerians often believe life abroad is far better, but in reality, it comes with challenges that are not always visible from the outside.

According to him, one of the major differences he noticed is that people in America are too focused on themselves. He claimed that Americans mind their business so much that they may not even notice if someone around them needs help. In contrast, he praised Nigeria for its strong sense of community, where neighbors interact, greet each other, and share warmth in daily life.

He also shared that while abroad, he longed for the Nigerian lifestyle and even wished to return home sooner than planned. In his words, “There’s no country better than our own. In Nigeria, you come out and greet your neighbors. In America, everybody just passes without concern.”

Odumeje’s remarks have triggered mixed reactions online. Some Nigerians agreed with him, saying life abroad can feel lonely and isolated compared to the communal way of life in Nigeria. Others, however, felt his comparison overlooked the opportunities and stability many seek overseas.

A social media user, @De Governor, joked, “I never see Odumeje with Bible, have you guys seen?” Another, @OfficialBlackSea, laughed about the preacher’s hype man, calling him “the happiest man in Nigeria now.” Meanwhile, @Richy added, “But seriously abroad life is funny… so boring.”

Interestingly, another commenter, @Dream Catcher, admitted feeling the same way Odumeje described, saying, “I want to go home please, I am tired of this UK.” These responses show how divided opinions can be when it comes to comparing life in Nigeria with living abroad.
