JAMB Sets October Deadline for 2025 Admissions in Public Universities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given an official deadline for all public universities in Nigeria to complete their 2025 admission processes. According to the new directive, all public universities must finalise admissions on or before October 31, 2025.

In a bulletin released on Monday, JAMB explained that the policy is in line with the decisions made during the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Minister of Education. The board said that the new schedule aims to improve the academic calendar and give all students fair and timely access to admission opportunities.

The bulletin also revealed deadlines for other institutions. Private universities have been given until November 30, 2025 to finish their admission processes. All other public and private institutions, such as polytechnics and colleges of education, must complete admissions by December 31, 2025.

JAMB encouraged all institutions to work quickly and complete admissions before the deadlines. It added that even if an institution is not fully ready to start the new academic session, it should still conduct and archive its admission records within the approved timeframe.

The board stated that all institutions conducting post-UTME screenings must also ensure that the screening exercises are completed without delay so that they can keep up with the admission timeline.

According to JAMB, the new schedule will prevent unnecessary delays in academic activities and help students settle into their chosen institutions without long waiting periods. The board believes that sticking to the deadlines will improve trust and efficiency in the admission system.

Institutions across the country are now expected to speed up their processes to meet the new schedule. Many students and parents hope the move will put an end to late admissions and provide a more stable start to the academic year.
