Dr Muheeba Dankaka Reappointed as Federal Character Commission Chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed the reappointment of Dr Muheeba Dankaka as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for a second five-year term. This decision comes after the successful completion of her first tenure, during which she led the commission in promoting fairness and equal representation in government appointments.

In the official statement released by the Presidency, it was also announced that Mohammed Musa has been appointed as the new secretary of the commission. Additionally, Kayode Oladele from Ogun State will continue to serve as a commissioner. Oladele, a former member of the House of Representatives, had been appointed by President Tinubu in 2024 and acted as the commission’s chairman after the end of Dr Dankaka’s first term.

The President also renewed the appointments of Lawal Ya’u Roni, Abubakar Atiku Bunu, and Eludayo Eluyemi, representing Jigawa, Kebbi, and Osun States, respectively, for another term in office.

Furthermore, several new commissioners have been appointed from various states across the country. They include Obina Oriaku from Abia, Mrs Bema Olvadi Madayi from Adamawa, Obongawan Dora Ebong from Akwa Ibom, and Nnoli Nkechi Gloria from Anambra. Also joining the commission are Babangida Adamu Gwana from Bauchi, Sir Tonye Okio from Bayelsa, Aligba Eugene Tarkende from Benue, and Engr. Modu Mustapha from Borno.

Other new appointees are Dr Stella Odey Ekpo from Cross River, Ederin Lovette Idisi from Delta, Barr. Nwokpor Vincent Nduka from Ebonyi, Chief Victor Sabor Edoror from Edo, Sola Fokanle from Ekiti, Peter Eze from Enugu, Ibrahim Baba Mairiga from Gombe, Jerry Alagbaoso from Imo, and Ruth Jumai Ango from Kaduna.

Completing the list are Muhammad Awwal Nayya from Kano and several other commissioners who will work alongside the existing members to ensure the commission’s mandate is fulfilled effectively.

With these appointments, President Tinubu has signaled his intention to strengthen the Federal Character Commission by combining experienced leadership with fresh representation from across Nigeria. The renewed and expanded team is expected to continue promoting fairness, inclusion, and national unity in federal appointments.
