K1 De Ultimate Apologises Over Abuja Airport Incident
Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly apologised to the Federal Government following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.
In a statement on Friday, the veteran musician addressed reports that he was caught with alcohol at the airport. He explained that the situation was a misunderstanding and stressed that he was not in possession of any alcoholic drink. According to him, the flask he carried only contained water, as recommended by his doctor due to his chronic dehydration condition.
K1 De Ultimate stated that during the security check, the flask was empty and was later filled with water at the airport lounge before boarding. He emphasised that he never boarded the aircraft, so the claim that he was removed from a flight was false. He also pointed out that CCTV footage from the airport could back up his account of events.
The Fuji legend expressed regret over any concerns the incident might have caused. He assured that he did not intend to cause any disruption or break aviation rules. His statement reaffirmed his respect for aviation procedures and his commitment to good conduct.
K1 De Ultimate offered his sincere apologies to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, and Nigerians in general. He said he valued the reputation he had built over his more than 50 years in the Nigerian music industry and would continue to protect it.
He also took the opportunity to thank his loyal fans for their support and understanding during the controversy. According to him, this experience has further strengthened his resolve to act responsibly in public spaces.
The Abuja airport incident had earlier attracted public attention after reports claimed K1 De Ultimate breached aviation regulations by bringing an alcoholic beverage onto a commercial flight. However, his latest explanation aimed to set the record straight and put the matter to rest.
For many of his followers, the statement serves as both an apology and a clarification, ensuring that the image of one of Nigeria’s greatest Fuji musicians remains untarnished.
