Former Nigerian senator Dino Melaye has officially begun a new chapter in his career as he made his first appearance in court as a lawyer. The former Kogi West lawmaker appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at Court 8 of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, dressed in a full legal wig and gown, marking his official debut in the courtroom since being called to the Nigerian Bar.

Melaye, a known political figure and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was among the over 5,000 candidates who were formally called to the Bar in early July after completing his law degree at Baze University. He took to his verified Facebook page to share the moment, confirming that he had appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

His entry into the legal profession comes after a vibrant career in politics where he served in both the House of Representatives and the Nigerian Senate. His time in the 8th Assembly as a senator representing Kogi West was marked by outspoken political activism and his bold personality, which earned him significant public attention both on and off social media.
