Oba of Benin task security chiefs on killer herdsmen in Edo
The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has urged the head of various security agencies in Edo state to tackle the menace of killer herdsmen across various communities in the state.
The monarch stated this when the heads of security agencies in the state paid him a courtesy visit in his palace where he explained that the violent activities of herders across Edo state have become alarming, warning that if not tackled, could result in deep crisis.
The royal father hinted that collaboration between traditional institutions and various security agencies, including the local vigilante groups would greatly improve security of lives and property.
Oba Ewuare II expressed worry over “escalating rate of kidnapping, rape and killings”, insisting that nefarious activities of herders must be checked.
Earlier, the security heads including Commander, 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Musa Sadiq, State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Philip Ogbadu and Director of State Security Service, DSS, Mrs. Ebun Likiyo told the Oba that they were at his palace to seek royal blessings and prayers to succeed in office.
The new security heads solicitated the monarch’s collaborative support to tackle insecurity and other social crimes in the state.
