The police in Niger state have arrested one of three suspects involved in the murder of a motorcycle rider in Zungeru, in the Wushishi Local Government Area of the State.
The suspect, Muhammed Sani, 25, of the Sahon-Rami Mashegu Local Government Area, was arrested by police operatives attached to the Zungeru division, following a tip off.
It was learnt that Sani boarded an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle of the victim with three others.
However, on reaching a point along the forest around the Government Day Secondary School, Zungeru, the suspects pulled out a rope, tied the rider and hacked him to death.
The corpse were said to have been recovered and taken to the General Hospital Wushishi, for autopsy.
It was also gathered that the suspect absconded with the motorcycle to Kebbi State, where he hid.
Sani said, “I thought that this matter had died down since i left Zungeru for Kebbi State. I didn’t know that police were still trailing me.
“Honestly, we actually killed our victim and we dispossessed him of his motorcycle. We thought that it was all over and nobody would hear of it. It is unfortunate.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident adding that the police were on the trail of the fleeing suspects.
