#EndSARS: Don’t give jobs to families, cronies, Kaigama tells FG, ministers
Catholic Archbishop in Abuja, Archdiocese, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has asked the Federal Government and Ministers to give the promised jobs to the nation’s teeming youths, rather than to their families and friends and cronies.
According to Archbishop Kaigama, the teeming youths who have no jobs must be employed , without having a godfather or connection, just as he stressed that this will go a long way to end youth restiveness in the country, as well as guide against protests like the recent #EndSARS, when youths came out to demand for the scrapping of the disbanded Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, and bad governance.
Kaigama, in his Homily, yesterday at Our Lady Queen of the Martyr Parish, Sabon Lugbe, Abuja, also called on the Federal Government to go for capacity building by investing in the young ones, in order to have a very robust productive sector in the country rather than reliance on Oil.
“As a country, we must channel our resources into human capacity building and productive venture instead of our overdependence on Oil, foreign aid and aggressive borrowing from other countries.
“We are blessed with huge agricultural potentials to make them self reliant and our youths gainfully employed and there is no reason to be preferred to us as “the poverty capital of the world”.
Why we don’t progress well is because we fail to make the necessary sacrifices and transparency that could propel us to greatness.
“Many Nigerians are thriving abroad but at home, people with good brains and skills are frustrated because of the deficiency of social infrastructure”.
