JAMB Registrar Seeks Religious Tolerance
The Registrar, Joint Admission Matriculation Board, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, on Saturday, called for the return to an era when difference in religious beliefs did not separate families and friends in Yorubaland. Oloyede spoke in IIe Ife, Osun State at the launch of a book titled ‘Religion, Peace Building and National Integration,’ written in honour of Prof Muib Opeloye. The JAMB boss, described Opeloye as a distinguished Professor of Inter Religious Studies, but lamented activities of some religious bigots, who in a bid to promote their own religion, infringed on others’ beliefs. We need to go back to the era when religion does not separate family or friendship bond.” Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi said religion should be used to foster peace and national integration, saying how different religions live in Yorubaland, remains a perfect example of religious tolerance.
