Tyler Perry & 5 Actors That Have Played Role of Female Characters
Acting is all about pretending to be what you’re not, right? So a man disguising himself as a woman in order to portray a feminine actor is part of the game, don’t you think? Over the years, we’ve seen a number of movies, where a male actor was given the role of a female character. With the right make-up, no one would even find out that it is actually a man ‘hiding behind’ a female body.
I’m sure you must have seen at least one movie like that, although you may not know if you aren’t told. In the famous 1988 movie ‘Coming to America,’ Arsenio Hall, who played the role of Eddie Murphy’s servant, also played the role of a lady at a club in one of the scenes.
If you’re a fan of Tyler Perry’s movies, you would have seen him portrayed as a female character a number of times, especially in the Madea series. John Travolta also played a ‘feminine role’ in a movie titled Hairspray. And Eddie Murphy himself too has also acted as a woman in a movie. In fact, I’m sure there are too many of such cases, but we will be looking at just seven. See below:
1. John Travolta (Hairspray)
2. Eddie Murphy (The Nutty Professor)
3. Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman)
4. Matt Lucas (Little Britain)
5. Dustin Hoffman (Tootsie)
6. RuPaul (Brady Bunch Movie)
7. Arsenio Hall (Coming to America)
