Condemnation As Air Force Men Brutalise Osun State Curfew Violators, NAF Condemns Action, Arrests Personnel
Nigerians have been condemning the actions of some men of the Nigerian Air Force,(NAF) who brutalised seven yet to be identified persons for violating the curfew imposed by the Osun State Government. It was gathered that the curfew was imposed to control the unrest that followed the #EndSARS protests in the state. It was learnt that the victims were arrested for flouting the curfew. However, the incident took another dimension when the seven victims were seen in a viral footage lying in muddy water as the air force men were using sticks to beat them repeatedly. The footage also showed the victims writhing in pains as two of the air force men were beating the buttocks of two of them. Also three of the victims were seen lying motionless in the mud. The victims were alleged to have been exhausted as a result of the assault on them by the military men. The Nigerian Air Force on its Twitter handle condemned the action of the personnel. While noting that they had been arrested NAF also explained that the victims were arrested for their alleged involvement in criminal activities during the curfew in the state.
Meanwhile following the establishment of 203 Combat Reconnissance Group, Gombe, no fewer than 3000 indigent residents will benefit from a medical outreach of the Nigerian Air Force. The Chief of the Air Staff, said the initiative was aimed at enhancing good civil military relations between the NAF and host communities. He stated this in Akko Local Government Area during the two day medical outreach. The Chief of Air Staff, who was represented by the Air Officer Commanding, Special Operations Command, said the NAF would continue to prioritise health care of host communities.
