Ibadan Mogajis Plan Reprisal Attack As Herdsmen Kill 4 Persons In Akinyele LG
The authentic Mogajis in Ibadan land, yesterday vowed to hunt for suspected herdsmen, who killed four farmers in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, and ensure the killers are brought to book. This came on a day the Oyo State House of Assembly called on the executive arm to implement the formation of Oyo State Security Network, code named Amotekun to check the nefarious activities of criminally minded herdsmen, who recently invaded some parts of the state. The Mogajis in a statement by their Publicity Secretary in Ibadan said, the killing of Yoruba people on their farms could no longer be tolerated by the group anymore. This is unacceptable. Henceforth, we have decided to begin to hunt for the people behind the killing and ensure they are brought to book, if the government is helpless. We cannot open our eyes and see our people being killed. We have suffered enough. They destroy our farmlands, took our lands and even killed our people without rescue from the police or even government. Enough is enough.” Meanwhile the plea to constitute the Amotekun Corps followed a motion of Urgent Public Importance moved by Mr Isiaka Arole during the House plenary. The lawmakers who expressed anger over the recent killings, called for the immediate formation of Amotekun Corps. While ruling on the motion, the speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, said the Assembly would speedily screen those nominated to oversee the affairs of Amotekun Corps so that work could commence in each local government of the state.
